Nova Scotia’s Premier will speak with the Yarmouth and Area Chamber of Commerce tomorrow.
In a virtual meeting, Iain Rankin will address the chamber members and answer any questions they might have.
Chamber President Kerry Muise says the Premier’s office reached out to them.
“They want to connect with groups in different areas to see how we’re feeling about the budget and the economics of the area, of course the Chamber was very open to that.”
Muise says members will want to hear from Rankin on issues including tourism, mental health, support for small business and economic diversity.
Muise says it’s important to see if there’s a plan for more economic diversity in the area, as we rely so heavily on fishing.
They’ll also be talking about support for new citizens.
“People are moving here in great numbers, and that’s affecting our real estate drastically. We want to talk about what the challenges and benefits are, and how we can help support that as well.”
Muise says the chamber has new board members that have stepped into leadership roles, and are eager to hear from the Premier.
