A messy start to the last day of winter.
Snow overnight and this morning caused treacherous road conditions in our area.
Don Houston, Operations Supervisor for the Department of Transportation in Yarmouth and Shelburne says the temperature drop last night has made this a difficult clean-up.
“Trucks were dispatched around 3:30 a.m. We were out plowing and salting. With the high volume highways, we’re still finding ice build-ups.”
Houston says a second coat of salt is being spread on roads in Yarmouth, Shelburne and Clare.
He says drivers should distance themselves from other vehicles on the roads today.
