It’s St. Patrick’s Day! I’m wearing my shamrock tie and my green Chuck Taylor sneakers; I’m ready to go!
Well much like last year, I’m not going anywhere. Last years’ celebrations were the first major events to be cancelled by the Pandemic, and it’s much the same this year.
I’m not Irish. But some of my favourite music is.
There’s true Irish Bands, like Thin Lizzy, U2 and Van Morrison. Then there’s bands from this side of the pond who are influenced by their heritage – think the Dropkick Murphys. And to me Great Big Sea and the Newfoundland sound fits in there nicely too.
I dream of going to Dublin to stand in front of the statue of Phil Lynott, the leader of Thin Lizzy and one of my musical heroes. My older brother did it a few years ago, and I’m green with envy (see what I did there? Green?).
