A lot of highs in 2020 for the province’s Progressive Conservative party, according to leader Tim Houston.
Houston took time to reflect on the past year with Y95 news.
He says Nova Scotians truly showed their resiliency in the face of so much tragedy and difficulty in 2020.
The PC leader pointed to a by-election win by Dave Ritcey n Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River back in March as a highlight.
He also noted that the party’s strategy of putting ideas forth instead of simply criticizing government was something to be proud of.
The party released the Universal Mental Health and Addictions Plan and Dignity for Our Seniors plan among many others.
When asked what he’s hoping for in 2021, the answer was quick and to the point: a provincial election.
“We don’t have fixed election dates, so the next Liberal leader will decide when the election is,” he explained. “It will be four years in the cycle in the spring, so that’s normally around the time that there’s an election…in fact, I don’t think any government in Nova Scotia has ever gone into a fifth year and been elected.”
He noted that in the past seven by-elections, six have gone in the PC’s favour which could be a bellwether for the next election.
