Villa Acadienne has awarded the tender for the construction of a new long-term facility in Meteghan to general contractor Bird Construction of Halifax.
Construction of the new facility will begin early next year.
When finished, the facility will provide 96 beds. All of the rooms will be private and wheelchair accessible.
It will be one of the first long-term care facilities in the province to be built according to the new Department of Health and Wellness standards.
The facility will be built on the former site of the Clare Bluegrass Festival on Highway 1.
