Speeding will be one of the issues the Municipality of the District of Yarmouth will be looking at going forward.
A motion was brought forward by councilor Patti Durkee on Wednesday for council to meet with the RCMP to discuss solutions.
She talked about the issues the municipality has with speeding.
“I know it’s an issue in Port Maitland because that’s where I live and I see it,” said Durkee. “I hear the cars zooming by. I’ve had numerous complaints from the residents who are very concerned.”
Council voted unanimously to have staff research speeding in the area and to work closely with the RCMP.
Durkee outlined what staff will be looking into, including replacing the stolen speed recording sign.
“One is that we’ll be looking into possibly purchasing another one,” said Durkee. “We’re talking about an education plan with the RCMP and the third part was maybe some more monitoring.”
