I, along with many other Canadians and the world was very sad to hear about the passing of Alex Trebek. He passed away yesterday.

Trebek died of pancreatic cancer. He first announced his diagnosis in 2019 and vowed to beat his cancer. He showed signs of improvement after his first round of treatment but got steadily worse recently. Most knew him from hosting Jeopardy since 1984 but what you might not have known is he started his career on CBC. He hosted Music Hope and Pick and Choose in the 1960s and went on to host other shows on the network as well including, Reach for the Top.
Growing up, Jeopardy was always on. I was never really a super fan of the show but when it was on I enjoyed it. I also admired Alex. When I was a little kid I thought that it was so cool that a guy from Canada had made it big one one of the biggest shows ever! I also loved his professionalism and unique style of humor as he hosted the show. He was a true Canadian hero and TV will be different without him. Here is a video that was very popular when it first came out but hits home even more now.
