Happy Halloween Week!
I’ve been filling up my somewhat limited spare time watching both Horror Movies and Halloween Movies (they are not necessarily the same thing). I love horror as a genre. Stephen King is my favourite author, and horror movies fill up a lot of my time.
So I’ve been thinking a lot about what movies truly scared me.

The Exorcist is pretty high up on the list, to this day. And it’s more than just the scenes in the movie that are straight up scary. It’s the story, the acting, the feeling of impending doom. And the music that brings it all together.

Both of these movies stayed with me for a long time.
Here’s one that scared me for sure, but my wife Kathy had to sleep with the lights on for days after:

Recently a panel of 50 people were attached to heart rate monitors to measure how their bodies reacted while watching more than 120 hours of scary movies.
The team at Broadband Choices then ranked the top 35 scary movies based on the average heart rate of the participants.
After crunching all the data, Broadband Choices said the title of scariest movie goes to 2012’s Sinister, which tallied a terrifying average of 86 beats per minute with a spike of 131 beats per minute after one of the film’s jump scares.
Insidious and The Conjuring weren’t far behind, finishing in second and third place.
The biggest jump scare award was given to Insidious as viewers hit an average of 133 beats per minute at one point.
