On October 9th 1940 a legend was born! John Lennon would have been 80 years old today if he were still living. He was of course a member of one of the most popular and influential bands in history, The Beatles! He also had a successful solo career after The Beatles broke up around 1970 until his death in 1980! He is unfortunately also remembered for his very violent death. John was shot and killed in front of his home in New York City on December 8th, 1980.
Before that happened though John Lennon was, and still is one of the most famous and iconic people on earth. He talked about world peace and love on many occasions and was very outspoken against war and hatred. Last night the Empire State Building was lit with blue lights in memory of Lennon!
