The Yarmouth Water Utility voted unanimously at a recent meeting to build a bulk water station.
Mayor Pam Mood says the work has already begun.
“It’ll be located around the corner of Industry Ave. and Forest St., up by the industrial park. It’s very important that it’s in a location that everyone is easily having access to, that it’s safe to get to.”
She says they are hoping to have it up and running in September.
Mayor Mood says that, unlike the current system, you will not have to buy tokens from Town Hall.
“This one will be much easier…credit cards, things like that, so more hi-tech, easier access, and everybody will have the ability to pat for water and access it.”
You will be able to tap your credit or debit card right there and fill up very quickly.
In a release, the Mayor said “it demonstrates the Town’s continued commitment to providing water for county residents in times of need.”
The $150,000 station is being paid for by the Yarmouth Water Utility but residents of the other two municipalities will also be able to use it.
“The focus of the water utility, itself, is providing water to our connected customers but, we understand there have been three droughts in the last five years. It’s really important for the residents of the Municipalities Yarmouth and Argyle to be able to access water when they need it.”
The system in the new station is highly efficient and will fill tanks quickly.
Payment will be made at the station by tapping your credit or debit card, rather than using tokens bought from Town Hall.
