A community hub based in East Pubnico will see upgrades to its parking lot.
The Municipality of the District of Argyle approved a significant funding request this week.
Council heard that the parking lot at the East Side Community Centre is in such rough shape that it could present problems down the road.
Councillor Kathy Bourque made the motion to approve the full $10,000 ask.
“It’s a big project and there’s a liability for the people that go to the centre,” she noted. “They’re scheduled to come so if we don’t get it done now, I don’t know when they’ll be able to do it.”
The community centre has been unable to do any fundraising due to COVID-19 and necessary projects are piling up, but the parking lot was flagged as a priority.
