There’s a change coming to schools in Yarmouth County this Fall.
Tri-County Regional Centre for Education Regional Executive Director Chris Boulter says Maple Grove is now a full middle school consisting of grades six to eight, while it’s feeder elementaries will become pre-primary to five.
“We have experienced some population growth in a couple of the feeder elementary schools, specifically Yarmouth Elementary School and Meadowfields Community School, so this is a good news story of growth in the community and we had the capacity within Maple Grove to accommodate grade sixes.”
He says the configuration allows the school to fit in with most of the country.
“This does provide opportunities for Maple Grove to collaborate with many other schools that are also grade six to eight schools, so we certainly like the configurations of grade primary to five, grade six to eight, and then, of course, grade nine to twelve.”
Boulter says they made the announcement this morning and have already reached out to parents to let them know what will happen next.
“Students will automatically, through our own digital systems that we use for student registration, be moved over to Maple Grove, so in fact, it will all be done and there’ll be no additional work that’ll have to be done from families.”
There are five elementary feeder schools:
*Carleton Consolidated School
*Meadowfields Community School
*Plymouth Consolidated School
*Port Maitland Consolidated School
*Yarmouth Elementary School
