The Town of Yarmouth has awarded a tender package for renovations of the Yarmouth Fire Hall, worth just over $850,000, to Garian Construction of Yarmouth.
Mayor Pam Mood says Garian was awarded the tender after they submitted the low bid.
Work is expected to begin on the second floor soon with all of the public health protocols in place.
“It is going to take some time, obviously, not just because of the great deal of detailed work but also, it’s ‘safety first’ and certainly the directives will be followed with regards to social distancing and that could take a little bit longer to complete the work but it will be done right.”
The work includes a number of renovations and upgrades, including the often requested new HVAC system.
“Spray fire proofing, life safety upgrades, major washroom upgrades, which includes a barrier-free washroom, a new kitchen and bar, and the H-VAC…that’s going to be top of the line and a considerable amount of finish work will be completed in that space.”
The job is one of many renovation and upgrade projects happening in the area, which includes the Lake Milo Boathouse, the ferry terminal, and the Glebe St. garage, parking lot and sewer separation work.
