Work continues across Nova Scotia Health to conserve and redeploy our resources as part of our response to COVID-19. As part of this, all NSHA outpatient blood collections in the western zone will take place by booked appointments only, starting Wednesday, March 25. We will not accept walk-ins.
Patients with urgent blood requisitions can call to book an appointment for blood collection:
Call: 902-740-2320, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Mon.-Fri., for blood collection appointment at:
Roseway Hospital, Shelburne
Digby General Hospital
Yarmouth Regional Hospital
Call: 902-527-5264, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Mon. – Fri., for blood collection appointment at:
Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg
Queens General Hospital, Liverpool
South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater
Only urgent blood work will be processed until further notice. Patients who currently have requisitions for routine bloodwork are advised to contact their ordering physician or nurse practitioner for direction regarding their laboratory testing.
Patients are asked to please not arrive more than five (5) minutes before your booked appointment time. This will help us maintain safe social distancing for all patients.
This change will not affect inpatient blood collection or testing at NSHA hospitals and facilities.
As communicated last week, the following western zone blood collection sites are closed until further notice:
Our Health Centre, Chester
North Queens Medical Centre, Caledonia
Lockeport Medical Center, Lockeport
Barrington Community Health Center, Barrington
Clare Medical Centre, Meteghan
Weymouth Medical Centre, Weymouth
