I heard the very devastating news yesterday! Upper Clemons Park is no more! For many including me UPPER CLEMENTS PARK was a wonderful land of fun and excitement that was looked forward to every year! I can remember countless summers there going through the haunted house, the many rides, the train and of course the Sissiboo Sizzler Flume Ride! For a small kid growing up on the South Shore it was literally as exciting as going to Disney World!
A little history for you. Upper Clements Park was built by the province back in 1989. It went through many changes over the years having changed hands with many business groups and almost closing many times. There were also different attractioins added and removed during this time like a wildlife park and a adventure park. In 2007 the park was bought and operated by a non profit group. At it’s peak it created around 200 jobs.
Now the property will be used for a boarding school. Read the full story below from our news team.

Boarding School To Be Built On Upper Clements Park Lands
It’s the end of an era for a decades-old tourist attraction in the Valley.
The first-ever franchise of one of the world’s top boarding schools will be built on the site of Upper Clements Parks in Annapolis County.
Municipal council passed a motion on Tuesday to buy the land that made up the former theme park to further the Gordonstoun Nova Scotia project.
Council agreed to buy the land for $600,000.
County of Annapolis Warden Timothy Habinski says the Park has been an important tourism and employment generator for more than 30 years, but despite the Board’s best efforts – the park was near bankruptcy.
“The selection and purchase of the Upper Clements Park property is the first milestone that we are announcing today. Additional milestones will be announced in later press releases,” he explained. “We’re very excited to share this news with you, the project is proceeding.”
The project was first announced in December 2018.
Gordonstoun Nova Scotia is expected to open in the autumn of 2021.
