Sobeys is officially ditching all plastic grocery bags from its stores on Friday.
It’s the first national grocery retailer to ban the single-use bags, which will take 225 million plastic grocery bags out of circulation each year.
Sobeys is encouraging customers to bring their own reusable bags when they shop.
Stores will also be selling large reusable grocery bags for 99 cents, smaller reusable bags for 25 cents, and paper bags for 10 cents.
You’ll still be able to recycle your single-use plastic bags at the store.
