Yarmouth Town Council is encouraging a group of youth who want to spruce up the skate park on south Main Street.
At its August 8 meeting, council adopted a motion directing CAO Jeff Gushue to work with staff, councillor Steve Berry, and members of the community to develop a painting project.
Mayor Pam Mood says a small but committed group of young men have taken it upon themselves to cover up offensive graffiti.
“Although, only with chalk, and to support a positive atmosphere at the skate park, so everyone feels comfortable. They’ve mentioned murals and, really, how cool would it be to have those painted by our youth.”
At the meeting Councillor Steve Berry said it was nice to see the pride that some people take in their community.
