All right, I admit it: I’m a fair weather NBA fan. I followed the Chicago Bulls closely the final few years of Michael Jordan’s tenure, then there was nothing. Right up until last year, when the Raptors were really good. Even then, it was an off and on relationship. And when they were eliminated, I moved on again.
This year – like the rest of Canada – I have caught Raptors Playoff Fever. The symptoms include yelling at the TV screen at the refs and hollering “Kawaiiiiii” at inappropriate times.
Tonight Game 3 goes in Oakland with the series knotted at a game apiece. If you’re not into the basketball, maybe you should at least stick around for the National Anthems over the next 2 games.

Tonight the US Anthem will be performed by James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett of Metallica. “Oh Canada” will be performed by Canadian Country artist Tenille Arts.
Now I admit I had to look her up. Tenille Arts is a 25 year old singer from Weyburn, Saskatchewan. and has performed on The Bachelor. She was named one of Rolling Stone’s 10 New Country Artists You Need to Know.
Sounds good to me! I plan to check out her music after this.

Before Friday’s Game 4, Ne-Yo and Walk Off The Earth will perform the U.S. and Canadian national anthems, respectively.
Ne-Yo is one of the coolest guys out there. I’m not sure if you’d consider Walk Off The Earth cool or not, but they are certainly hip. And they are one of my favorite bands right now. So regardless of the game, I’m looking forward to the Anthems!
Oh, aaand…GO RAPTORS!!
I’m thinking that we’re winning the game tonight. Fingers crossed. I’ll yell extra loud at the TV screen.
