Staff Sergeant Ben Parry of the Yarmouth Rural RCMP makes it very clear.
He’s got no patience for people who use their phones while driving.
If he pulls you over, you’re going to get a ticket.
“There’s just no break. There’s just no good reason to have a phone on your hand, unless you need to call 911. There’s certainly no good reason to be sending a text, checking Facebook or taking a picture of yourself. We see it all the time. I drive an older vehicle. It still has Bluetooth, so you can spend $20 and buy Bluetooth or if your’re vehicle has it then use it and put down the phone while you’re driving.”
Staff Sergeant Parry says people don’t realize how much road you can cover in a second or two while you’re looking at your phone.
“If you’re not paying attention you could, in the blink of an eye, be involved in a tragedy that will forever change your world and someone else’s. It’s just not worth it.’
