The interim manager of the Yarmouth Airport expects a repaving project to be completed by the end of October.
The work, estimated at a cost of $80,000, involves the filling of cracks on the airport’s main runway.
Alain Muise the designation of 301 won’t be upgraded to 302 anytime soon.
He tells CJLS News repairs and capital improvements could be at least $6 million to regain the 302 status.
“Currently the board is not focused on going to 302, however any work we do around the airport contemplates that possibility to go back to 302 however that is not their primary goal.”
Muise says the airport continues to be busy and is the airport of choice for medivacs because of it’s proximity to the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
It’s also used regularly by business and government.
