The Yarmouth Dog Park committee will use the frontyard playground of the former Arcadia School as a temporary dog park.
When Th’YARC finalized a sale and transfer of the building with the Municipality of Yarmouth, one of their goals was to have community groups use it right away.
Martha Cassidy with the committee says she’s thankful to Mitch Bonnar and Th’YARC members.
“It’s a valid space for citizens of the community and we’re very grateful that Mr. Bonnar and the members of the board for Th’YARC support the concept of our being able to use it. Temporary, sure. But at the present time we’ve been using a temporary place since I moved to Yarmouth forty years ago. This is ours for the time being.”
Meanwhile, the committee are growing frustrated with a lack of movement on developing a dog park in town.
Fencing for the proposed location on Jarvis Street would be expensive, and the committee doesn’t have enough funds raised.
Cassidy says they are examining other sites in town, but for now they are happy to use Arcadia School.
