South Shore residents won’t have to travel far to buy pot when it becomes legal.
The province added three more NSLC outlets to the list of those where cannabis will be sold.
Included in that list is the liquor store on Dufferin Street in Bridgewater.
The other two are in New Minas and Antigonish.
The province previously announced nine locations would sell cannabis in Amherst, Dartmouth, two in Halifax, Lower Sackville, New Glasgow, Sydney River, Truro and Yarmouth
Finance Minister Karen Casey says pushing back the expected legalization date from July 1 has allowed NSLC more time to prepare other outlets.
She says the Liquor Corporation identified there are large areas of the province where cannabis is not available.
“We don’t know what that new date is going to be, but it’s going to be in the fall. In the meantime, NSLC were looking at this gap in the map and they came up with the recommendation of three sites that they felt would help close that gap.”
The stores will be open for cannabis sales once renovations are completed in the fall.
