The town of Yarmouth is looking for help in further development of the waterfront.
It will issue an RFP for a Waterfront Development Action Plan.
Mayor Pam Mood says the town has an advisory committee already in place.
“We have an amazing waterfront. It needs to be developed even more. There’s not a lot of whole lot of property that’s free and clear that the town still owns but we want to make sure that every piece of property that’s down there is used to its optimum.”
Mood says the working waterfront has to be maintained because that’s who we are.
“I think it’s beautiful, you know, the mixture of public and private property. I will say this that they are so respectful of the waterfront because that is their livelihood. So it’s a beautiful pairing of both entities coming together and making sure that we can celebrate exactly what we have because there’s places in the world that don’t have it.”
She says economic development of the waterfront, including tourism is also a priority.
