The transit system in Yarmouth will soon be getting upgrades thanks to a provincial grant.
The town of Yarmouth will receive $25,000 as part of the Public Transit Assistance program.
The funding will go towards bus upgrades, constructing bus shelters, and general maintenance.
Municipal Affairs Minister Zach Churchill says public transit in Yarmouth is a unique advantage.
“Public transportation is scarce in rural Nova Scotia, so to have one here in Yarmouth is something that we can all be very proud of,” he says.
“It’s going to be incumbent upon our government’s to work together to keep this sort of service for our community members.”
Yarmouth is one of six communities across the province that will receive funding through the assistance program.
