If you’d like to help out the Yarmouth Fire Department and you like fishing, this might be for you.
A Match Fishing Tournament will run all summer and end in October with a first place prize of $2000.
The registration fee is $150 with proceeds going to the fire department.
Corey Burke, one of the organizers and a dispatcher with the Yarmouth Fire Department says groups of five boats will be put together, fishing for a three hour period with the top three boats moving on to each round.
“We’re going to be using all of the smaller non-tournament lakes, so anybody that just fishes once and a while or an occasional fisherman, has a chance to fish against the bigger boats and the guys that are more competitive. And, it’s in a lake that the guys are not familiar with. It’s a whole new idea.”
