RCMP say a few, simple basic rules can keep your trick or treaters safe tonight.
Police throughout the Tri-Counties will be out keeping a close watch for any pranksters.
Cpl. Dale Hutchinson says it’s a good idea to sit down with youngsters before heading out.
“We want everyone to have fun but at the same time we want to make sure people are safe. We want parents to talk to their children about staying in their neighbourhoods, going to homes they’re familiar with, not going to homes where the lights are out.”
“Make sure you know where your children are and who they are with.”
Cpl. Hutchinson says they also encourage youngsters and teens not to go out alone.
“Go out with a group of friends and if you’re younger make sure you have an adult with you.”
He says also make sure to look both ways before crossing the street and use marked crosswalks whenever possible.
“We encourage everyone in Yarmouth, Shelburne and Digby Counties to keep in mind when they’re driving, to slow down, especially in residential areas.”
“We will be out in full force making sure everyone has a safe and fun Halloween.”
