A Yarmouth man living in Alberta has successfully launched his own line of clothing.
Brennan FitzGerald says his love of the sea and his hometown inspired to start SEA Change clothing.
For every item sold, three pounds of trash will be cleaned from the ocean.
Now, FitzGerald has returned home, and will host the first beach clean-up for SEA Change.
He says it will take place on Friday, August 11th in Yarmouth.
We're doing it at The Churn, which is just before the Yarmouth Bar, there is a little beach on the back shore. We'll be there 10am-2pm on August 11th! So far we've raised about 588 pounds of trash, that's our goal that we need to work towards right now. We'll see on August 11th how close we can get."
He says Waste Check is helping out with litter kits and have offered to transport trash to the proper facility.
FitzGerald says his kick-starter campaign raised $11,000, and the business has been growing.
He says to look out for more events in this area, possibly in the fall.
