A Yarmouth musician and his band are nominated for an East Coast Music Award.
It’s the first nomination for Trevor Murphy and Quiet Parade, they are up for Folk Recording of the Year.
Murphy says they are very proud of the record.
“Everybody says, it doesn’t matter if you win or lose, it’s nice to be nominated. I think the older I get, the truer that becomes.”
He says after a few line-up changes over the years, they now have the core of Quiet Parade.
“We’ve solidified that line-up over the last three or four years. We’re finally settled, and I think making this record was the first indication of that. On the heels of that, we’re very happy to get this nomination.”
Murphy also scored his first nomination for Media Outlet of the Year for his radio program ‘Halifax is Burning.’
He says even though he’s mostly in Halifax now, he always carries a piece of Yarmouth with him.
“Not only in the music that Quiet Parade writes, but in the behind the scenes work I do as well. I run a record label called ‘Acadian Embassy’ and one of the bands that we manage and work with and release records for is Rain Over St. Ambrose, who are heroes of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. I think Yarmouth is a great example of people working together to make it a better place.”
Murphy says Quiet Parade is currently working on new music.
The band is also planning to record and release a French EP, a first for Acadian Embassy.
The ECMA’s will be held in late April, this year in Saint John.
