The new Superintendent of the Tri-County Regional School Board is excited to get started.
The Board announced last week that Paul Ash will take over the position from interim Superintendent Dr. Jim Gunn on March 31st.
Ash was most recently the Director of the African Canadian Services Division within the Department of Education.
He says this is an important time for staff, teachers, parents and community members to support our youth.
"They are our most valuable asset, and I think it's important that we all try to work together to chart a path to ensure their success in the education system."
Ash was chosen after the Board hired an external consultation company to help with the process.
Board Chair Michael Drew says Ash brings with him 25 years of experience in education.
"That's part of the reason why we're so excited to have him on board, because of his passion for delivering high-quality education in a rural community."
Ash is originally from Upper Big Tracadie, Nova Scotia.
He has been with the Department of Education since 2005 in various roles, and is a former school principal and vice-principal.
