A chilly New Year's Day tradition is entering its 11th year.
The Yarmouth Polar Bear Dip takes place at Lake Milo Sunday at noon.
Members of the local 'polar bear club' pick up a pledge form with all proceeds going to the Yarmouth Fire Department.
Firefighters also come down and take part.
The department's Stewart Deveau says they help make sure the event is safe for participants.
"We clean off the boat ramp so the participants have a clear space, if there is any ice on the lake we clear it. We also have firefighters in survival suits should something go wrong. Attendance has been good over the years. It's open to everybody, we encourage anyone brave enough and looking for an adventure to come down and join in!"
For those willing to brave the cold, applications can be picked up at Boston Pizza on Starrs Road.
This is the largest single event fundraiser of the year for the fire department.
