Yarmouth Rural RCMP received a complaint about an online threat last night.
The threat was about Drumlin Heights Consolidated School in Argyle.
To ensure student safety, an RCMP officer attended the school today to actively monitor the situation.
Media Relations Officer Corporal Jenn Clarke says she doesn’t know the specifics of the threat.
“We were concerned about it, we always have to take those seriously as we did in this case. If people have concerns they can contact us or the school.”
It was determined that the threat is of a low level, and RCMP say they continue to work with staff at the school to ensure the safety of students.
Tri-County Regional Centre for Education executive director Paul Ash says the school did go into lockdown today, but it was a planned drill over the lunch hour and had nothing to do with any threats.
Ash says the planned lockdown may have led to the threat being made.
He says even though the threat level was very small, proper protocol was followed.
