Training camp is on the horizon for the Yarmouth Junior A Mariners.
The team returned to the playoffs last season, but fell in the first round to the eventual league champion Bearcats.
Head Coach and General Manager Laurie Barron says there will be a good mix coming back.
"We've got some good veterans returning, and a nice mix of younger kids that we got at the draft. We're still a couple of free agents away from where we want to be, but things are coming around nicely."
Barron says there will be a good competition for spots leading up to the regular season, which begins September 15th.
"We have Leif Hertz back in goal, our defense looks very solid, and new forward Luc Poirier and Alex Arab up front as well. We're really looking forward to having a strong club."
Camp will begin with a meet and greet for players on August 23rd.
For parents with kids in minor hockey, Barron encourages people to sign up for Mariners Hockey School which takes place August 21-25.
Kids will get on ice sessions with Mariner players and staff.
Barron says a big selling point for players is the fact that Yarmouth has the highest attendance in the MHL.
He hopes fans will renew and consider purchasing season tickets.
