Nova Scotia's premier says his decisions have taken a toll on his relatives.
Stephen McNeil was sworn back into office yesterday and took the opportunity to thank his family for all they've had to go through since he's been premier.
McNeil was reflecting on how the decisions he's made have impacted his loved ones.
"Three and a half years have been challenging years for people who care about me. You know, they don't get to defend themselves. My siblings in their place of work, in their place of worship, in their circle of friends, have to bear the responsibility of my decisions without any input on it."
But McNeil says, through it all, he still had their support.
"It's only because of the confidence they instilled in me and continue to instill in me - and believe in me. It allows me to believe in this province."
McNeil says his family may not always see eye to eye, but they've come away from the last term stronger and more united.
He says they've demonstrated what it means to be a family, and the challenges they've faced have brought them closer.
