The building that housed Chuck’s Diner, a popular eatery on the Hardscratch Road, remains standing but is gutted inside.
Lyn Seeley, Platoon Chief with the Yarmouth Fire Department, says the structure was fully involved when he first arrived on scene.
“Our main concern at that point was the tire shop to the north side, so we looked after that and attacked through the north side door (of the diner)> It seemed to be pretty stubborn. We did leave the building standing but it is gutted inside though.”
He says the fire marshal’s office, in cooperation with the RCMP, are investigating to try and determine a cause.
Fire departments from Port Maitland and Lake Vaughn also responded.
