The Federal Government was in a giving mood today in Shelburne County.
Funding totalling $184,157 is being provided to four community projects including the Parr Street Park.
The park received $41,885 to upgrade the basketball court, playground equipment and do some landscaping.
Mayor Karen Mattatall says most of the work is already completed.
“I think that question will be easily answered after this summer and we see the use of the new equipment but I think there is no question it’s going to be very well utilized.”
Meanwhile, $106,338 was also provided to the Shelburne County Arena for phase 3 of capital upgrades and two assist in maintaining two full-time jobs and a part-time position.

Another $20,329 will help rehabilitate the historic mill building in Shelburne, upgrade power services at the historic Town Dock and install signs to welcome visiting boaters.
And, $15,605 will help the River Hills Golf and Country Club make improvements to its clubhouse and cart paths.
President of the River Hills Sport and Recreation Society, Rose Patton, says that includes building a new wall with a new door, windows, and siding.

The funding was announced by South Shore – St. Margaret’s MP, Bernadette Jordan.
