The Municipality of Yarmouth is disappointed over cutbacks to the Canada Legacy Society.
A group municipal units from Western Nova Scotia had seen a collaborative regional approach as the best
way for them to mark Canada’s 150th birthday celebrations scheduled for 2017.
But the federal government cut back on its funding commitment to the project.
Warden Leland Anthony thinks it’s a worthwhile endeavour.
“It’s a video project where they were going to do the history from West Hants all the way around to Mahone Bay.”
Anthony says he realizes the project was costly but says it would have longevity and could be used by schools as an educational tool.
Yarmouth municipal council discussed the matter Wednesday night and will see if the video project can proceed on a smaller
scale.
