(photo courtesy NS RCMP) It seems some people still aren’t getting the message that impaired driving is dangerous, not to mention illegal.
RCMP say they charged 270 drivers with impaired related offences from July 1 to September 30.
Those numbers were released in a quarterly report.
Officers responded to 86 collisions involving serious injuries and 11 fatal collisions during that period.
Two hundred and thirty-one drivers were charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle by Alcohol, five charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle by Drug and 34 were charged with refusing an impairment test.
RCMP also issued 113 driving suspensions for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Having Consumed Alcohol.
In Nova Scotia, there are approximately 200 RCMP officers who have received specialized training to detect impaired drivers.
