Some improvements could be coming for Killam's Wharf.
The structure on Water Street is 25 years old, and like any wharf, it's exposed to harsh conditions that can cause deterioration.
Consultants have been telling the town of Yarmouth to consider options, including monitoring work as well as further assessments to determine the feasibility of repair or improvement options.
The Committee of the Whole accepted those recommendations last Thursday.
Yarmouth Mayor Pam Mood says they want to stay on top of things.
"We don't want people to think it's not safe or usable, it certainly is. We want to make sure that we stay ahead of it. We understand that any wharf is going to deteriorate over time, and we are keeping in touch with consultants to make sure that nothing happens down there."
Mood says the town has identified Water Street as a top strategic priority, and maintaining the wharf as a public gathering spot relates to that.
