The MLA for Argyle-Barrington says he's pleased the government has announced that a committee will be struck to address Acadian issues.

Lena Metledge Diab created the Advisory Committee to the Minister of Acadian Affairs and Francophonie.

Diab says she'll work with its members to advance both government's priorities and those of Nova Scotia's Acadian and Francophone communities.

Chris d'Entremont says it's something the PC's have worked towards.

But he says the matter of protected Acadian and minority ridings must be dealt with.

"It can't be political. The itself government cannot impact this things. They can set things in play to allow it to happen but there's still a boundary commission that needs to be put forward that can create an independent look at how boundaries should be looked at in this province."

d'Entremont says there needs to be a full process put in place to ensure Acadian ridings are fully restored.

He says there must be a commission put forward that can create an independent look at how boundaries should be looked at.
