City Council wants to know more about Thunder Bay’s Emerald Ash Borer problem before committing to a course of action. The decision was to be made Monday night, but Council voted to refer the motion.
Council voted 8 to 3 Monday night for a report looking into how many of our ash trees are infested with the destructive insect. Administration is expected to present that in late fall, including more options on how to move forward now that the EAB is here. The choices presented at last night’s meeting cost between $6 million and $7 million.
Meantime, the City is going ahead with treating the trees that are known to be infected. It was discovered last month on trees in the Memorial and 4th Avenue area.
