Nova Scotia Power says it’s in full preparation mode for today’s blast of winter.
The utility activated its Emergency Operations Centre at 8 p.m. last evening.
Spokesperson Tiffany Chase says the storm will impact its system.
She says while crews have been dispatched across the province, safety comes first.
“With the high winds, when it’s above 80 km/h, it may not be safe to be up in the bucket trucks making repairs. As well, with the heavy wet snow coming down quickly, it can certainly make travel conditions poor.”
Chase says NSP is also coordinating with electrical inspectors to streamline the repair process for customers who may incur damage to their meter mast as a result of the storm.
She says if electrical equipment is damaged, customers need a certified electrician to make repairs before Nova Scotia Power can safely restore power.
