The Mayor of Yarmouth says a meal-a-day initiative has gone beyond her wildest expectations.
The ‘Meal-A-Day For 100 Days’ provides one meal free of charge to everyone in the community.
It can be breakfast, lunch or dinner depending on the day.
The idea came Mayor Pam Mood’s task force.
Mood says the 100 Meals is a tremendous success.
“It’s nothing short of humbling to watch the community come together to bring meals to people. Folks are coming to me and saying they’re meeting new friends, that they haven’t gotten out of the house for a while. It’s really exciting.”
The meals are held at different locations.
Mayor Mood says the program runs until the last week of March.
She says donations to help buy everything needed for meals has been overwhelming.
Mood also thanked the many volunteers that come prepare and serve the meals.
A schedule of the meals is on the Town of Yarmouth website.
