Provincial Volunteers have been chosen for the town and municipality of Yarmouth.
Rachelle d’Entremont is the town’s representative.
d’Entremont has given her time to many local organizations such as the Yarmouth Central School breakfast program, 100+ Women Who Care Yarmouth County, Rotary Club and Yarmouth Meals on Wheels.
She explains why she loves to volunteer.
“It’s always been a part of what I do, giving back. Just finding organizations and charities that I’m passionate about and giving back. It’s not really work if you’re having fun.”
Norman Amirault was selected as this year’s municipality of Yarmouth volunteer representative.
The 78 year old has volunteered at the Yarmouth Fire Department for 50 years and the St. Ambrose Choir for nearly as long.
He also plows many driveways for neighbours during winter.
Amirault says he was humbled to receive the honour.
“There’s always somebody you can help. I’ve been volunteering for 50 years now, it’s really something quite good that you can do, and it helps people out.”
d’Entremont and Amirault will attend the Provincial Volunteer Award Ceremony in Halifax on April 18th.
