Another ER Closure In Shelburne Has The Mayor Fuming

There's more closures coming for Roseway Hospital's Emergency Department.

The emergency department in Shelburne will be closed this afternoon at 5:00 and will reopen tomorrow at 8:00 a.m.

It will close again Thursday at 5pm and reopen Friday morning at 8.

The Nova Scotia Health Authority says it's due to physician availability.

The ER was closed Sunday and Monday.

Mayor Karen Mattatall says unfortunately she's not surprised by the latest closures.

"I'm disappointed and very unhappy about it. We anticipated that over the holiday season we would see more unacceptable closures. I hope that everybody will stay safe. I hope nobody has an emergency while this hospital is closed."

She says the provincial government should be ashamed of the way it's treating people who rely on Roseway Hospital.

Mattatall says it's the government's job to make sure emergency rooms remain open and it's time they did their jobs.
