Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a rainfall warning for the South Shore and Tri-Counties.

It says to expect rain, at times heavy.

Due to the frozen ground, localized flooding is possible in low-lying areas..

A low pressure system developing over the southeastern United States will slowly track across the region tomorrow.

Rain will begin over southwestern Nova Scotia tonight and spread northeastward.

The weather agency says 25 to 50 mm of rain is expected by Saturday evening.

The Town of Yarmouth says it's the time of year that heavy rainfall and warm weather can create a lot of snow melt, and they rely on catch basins to move that water off of the streets.

They say items like debris and litter can create clogs and backups in the storm drain system and flood areas along streets and properties.

The town says you can help by removing the debris, and if water movement is still slow contact the Public Works department.
