The Nova Scotia Community College Foundation has kicked off their Make Way campaign.
The official launch took place last week.
Their goal is to raise $25 million to support student success at NSCC campuses across the province.
In Yarmouth, Burridge Campus Principal Mary Thompson says every dollar raised stays in the local area.
"In our Burridge, Digby area, our goal is to raise $350,000. We've already raised $175,000 because we started this initiative in the Spring."
In Shelburne, the goal is $200,000.
Thompson says the money will support student bursaries, aid, innovative learning opportunites and more.
"It helps students in areas that they don't expect financially that could derail their education. Sometimes, it's as little as $500 that can make a difference to a student, helping them stay in school and graduate."
In 2016-2017, the NSCC Foundation awarded 1,000 scholarships and bursaries, and helped 850 students through unforeseen circumstances with urgent aid.
However, it received 16,000 applications for awards that same year.
An open house will be held at all NSCC campuses on October 19th.
