Chris d’Entremont is back as MLA for Argyle-Barrington.
The Progressive Conservative House Leader has been MLA since 2003.
He defeated the Liberals’ Louis d’Entremont by over 2000 votes.
The NDP’s Greg Foster came in a distant third.
Chris d’Entremont says those he ran into on the campaign trail weren’t happy with Premier Stephen McNeil on certain issues.
“A lot of it revolved around health care, long-term care, doctors, those kind of things that seem to be a huge issue as you get further away from Yarmouth.”
This was d’Entremont’s fifth straight provincial election victory.
He says the Yarmouth ferry was a popular issue on the campaign trail, with PC leader Jamie Baillie promising to re-negotiate the deal with Bay Ferries if elected.
“It’s another one of those things that as you get further away from Yarmouth, the issue changes. In Barrington, they don’t see a lot of the traffic coming off that ferry, and they’d like to see the opportunity to get those tourists and get the opportunity to get them in their shops and restaurants. We will continue to work and try to figure this out.”
