The clock is winding down for taypayers across the country.
The deadline to file their 2017 return is midnight on Monday April 30.
Self-employed people can wait to file until June 15 but any money owed must be paid by April 30 to avoid paying interest.
Ann Marie Jenkins with the Canada Revenue Agency says the fastest way to see your refund is to file online.
“If you file your tax return online and you have direct deposit set up, you can receive your refund in as little as eight business days.”
Jenkins says their web site contains a list of free software to help taxpayers file online.
But there is also help in the community for those who aren’t comfortable with computers.
“If you have a modest income and a simple tax situation, a volunteer from this program may be able to get your tax return completed on time.”
Jenkins says regardless how you file, it is important to be on time to avoid paying any penalties.
