They’re competing for a $100,000 grant to help build an all-natural play area for the new Yarmouth Elementary School.
They’ve applied through the AVIVA Community Fund.

Jared Purdy tells CJLS News these all natural playground are different from traditional ones.
It really ties into how when we were as kids. Nowadays you’re seeing the mud kitchens and the slides built into a natural hill. It’s just brining our children back into that connection with nature and having those natural elements.”
He says the play space would also be there for the community.

Purdy has position with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development as project lead for the Nova Scotia Principals Forum standing committee.
But he’ll be back as principal.
