Have you thought about leaving a legacy...a gift to a charity or organization that is important to you ?

Perhaps now is the time to leave a special gift, a bequest.

May will be Leave A Legacy Month, a national campaign to raise awareness.

The Yarmouth Hospital Foundation is a member and managing director Paulette Sweeney-Goodwin says a person doesn't need a large bank account to help out the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.

"We receive donations and bequests, gifts in a will, of all kinds. You do not have to have an exorbitant amount of wealth. It's the fact that you remembering your hospital in a way that's meaningful to you."

Greg Barro, chairman of the hospital foundation, leaving a legacy is a special way to give.

"As a lawyer, and often I'm involved when people are preparing their wills, I can say that when people are making bequests to any charitable organizations, that there's a certain sense of pride and satisfaction and this is something that they've really wanted to do."

The Yarmouth Hospital Foundation has raised over $17 million for the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.

That includes $10 million for hospital expansion in the mid to late nineties.
